This Zin had gone a little long in the tooth, but I doubt it had ever been much to write about. Basics on the nose, lighter and just a hint of bramble, without much on the finish

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry. The body is medium with a hint of pepper. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes short. Good zin for the price!

2nd bottle of night @ WA Frost in St. Paul. They were sold out of the Turley Old Vines and we wanted a zin, so this was the substitute by default. It was surprisingly drinkable with pleasant spice notes, lacking the syrupy sweetness and jam I dislike in zin. So this might not be typical zin, but good enough for me.

Nice california zin. Has an interesting licorice like finish. Great with lasagna.
2nd tasting edit:
Had this again and the oak and alcohol gave me a massive headache. A little too heavy, even for a zin.
