Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 88.4 points

  • Clear, deep ruby color. Clean nose, but missing the typical intense cassis notes of young Carmenere. This one is fully mature now. Still good, clean, with a solid body of medium acidity, medium tannins and medium+ alcohol (13,5%). But for me it has lost its beauty and elegance of its younger days. Fruit is in the back, tertiary notes of earth, smoke and oak are taking place and that is not what I like in a Chilean Carmenere.
    So drink up now.

  • Quite a nice wine for its price point. Deep violet, black fruit, smoky and med-full body. Green pepper and herbs are present but not to the degree as many Carmeneres display. Should buy more and hold for the value.

  • Forward nose of capsicum and celery around a core of black fruit and coffee. More to the elegant side with moderate concentration, highlighted acidity and tannic grip. Fairly long with modest complexity. Different than last time tasted with less fat and concentration.

  • Dark ruby. Attractive nose of cassis, blackberry jam, loam, smoke and herbs. On the palate however it somewhat disappoints given the expectations one has thanks to the nose, being somewhat diluted with astringent tannins and high acidity. Medium aftertaste. Might improve by gaining in roundness and flesh with mid-term cellaring.

  • On the nose fruit is ripe but slightly cooked and there is an aroma of coal or burnt wood, also the tell-tale herbaceousness and wet earth. In the palate it is medium bodied with lots of fruit. Nice wine if a little one-dimensional.
