  • Bright red color with no appreciable bricking. Beautiful nose of dried red cherries, cedar, spicebox, and red currants. Similar flavor profile on the palate with great clarity and moderate density. Extremely fresh with a killer line of acidity. Fine tannins frame the medium+ finish. Flavorful yet weightless given the freshness and low alcohol (none listed on bottle; "table wine" so < 14%). Started to tighten up after ~4 hours in decanter but went extremely well with beef rib roast to cut through the fat.

Really makes you appreciate these older wines made in a balanced style with restrained ripeness and alcohol. Surprisingly young with minimal bricking. Simply put, the freshness with the lower alcohol means this wine will age almost forever. Early plateau right now, and I estimate it will hold at this stage for 3-5 years. Hold for more complexity. Well stored bottles should easily last 40+ years after vintage. 94+ now

  • Opened by Allred. Second time I have had this wine with the last time being in 2005. Burnt red color with a slight orange rim. Some mustiness on the nose at first. A definite old world character. Notes of iron, black fruit and tobacco leaf. This has faded slightly in the last 10 years but was still drinking very well. Especially of you like a more restrained style of wine. 92 points.

  • Opened by Allred at gourmet group. Not showing any apparent age with very dark crimson to the core. Black fruits with some tertiary notes as well. 93+

  • Decanted off its sediment and served. Still quite youthful in appearance. Aromas of tobacco, black currants, roasted bell pepper and sweet red currants. Medium-bodied with flavors of leather, plum, currants and tobacco. Long, balanced finish. In a terrific place, and should hold at this level for a few years yet. Drink now-2020.
