  • My wine supplier has not failed me yet. Cork in pristine condition for a 44 year old bottle. Shows age and should be drank now as it is fading away. No decant needed, PnP. Very nice!

  • Hard to believe but this is actually better than the 1970 Muga Gran Reserva I had a few weeks ago. A higher dose of extract, exquisite acidity and generous fresh red fruits in the core of the mid-palate. There are some slight notes of oxidation upon opening, but at 40 years old, I expected much, much worse. These vanished after decanting. On retronasal, it is herbal, tertiary with wet leather and sous bois. A wine of great length that exceeds expectations. It is lovely to see how the rusticity of Rioja gives way to elegance and finesse with the magic of time and care. Lovely bottle.
