Last bottle after cellaring in a Frigidaire wine cooler for over 3 years.
A: Medium garnet N: Oak with very little remaining fruit upon popping. Over time, some chocolate, smoke, and residual red and dark fruit is slightly perceptible. P: Oak, smokey chocolate, raspberry/tart cherry, maybe some blackberry and earth. It's all well-integrated but very subtle and kind of washed out. F: Fruit fades fast, tannin have a pleasant softness that lingers for a little bit.
On the first day, it had some kind of acetone element that fades a bit over time. There's a fair amount of sediment by the second day. I think the enclosure is cheap on these bottles, as the cork slid out a little too easily for comfort and was fragile, leading to partial separation upon removal (which was at least a minor contribution to the sediments). I think that these are end-stage bottles that you should find an excuse to drink ASAP, as it seems perilously close to spoilage. It would probably have held up for another year or two with higher-quality corkage, but it's of little consequence at this price point. She's almost dead, Jim!

I had a few of these purchased in late 2020 that had been properly cellared for about 3 years. The previous bottle had a dried cork that had noticeably put the its contents on the edge of spoilage, although it was still generally palatable. This second bottle was better preserved, making consumption all the more pleasant, although the fruit is mostly faded at this point. Still, this revealed some secondary elements that provided a unique rioja experience. I have one more bottle that I'll hold off on for another 3-6 months. A teachable moment, I'd generally be drinking these up NOW.
A: M- ruby, M+ flow of tears that form rapidly N: Musty oak and cedar enveloping remnants of red cherry on a backing of vanilla and earth. Alcohol is foreward with interesting notes of cranberry and fig with some baking spices (cinnamon?) mixed in. P: Cherry and blueberry with subtle cinnamon. Alcohol is present, tannin is pleasantly "speckled" (prominent with gentle density), biting yet restrained. C: Moderate finish w/acidity winning out.
Could be as high as 90. It had a lot of character out of the bottle about 6 hours after opening. By the next morning, it seemed noticeably reduced in character. I'm not sure if that's because I was more perceptive the night before or it actually died that much overnight. Maybe a little of both, but in my experience, standard crianzas and reservas at 10+ years fade fast out of the bottle. Hardly any need to decant, should be fully revealed after airing out fully for about 30 minutes.

Found another one @ discount bin price of $11. Definitely not as awesome as prior bottle. Like an aged old wold wine. Worth a shot. Would try again at that price.

A bit sharp, coconut notes, over raspberry. Bery fone tannins.
