Still young. Tight at first, beginning to open up after 45 min. Goes well with the roast pork and polenta dinner. A bit of bitterness, rather than tannic, in the finish. Nice wine, but better with the meal than on its own at this point. Perhaps more time in the glass, or more time in the cellar, will help.

Deep purple color just going clear at the rim. The nose has spice, dark fruits and some wafts of barnyard, but not unpleasant at all. In the mouth there's tart cherry, a little sour cough drop, a bit of smoke at the back of the throat. The finish isn't long and there's something slightly pushy about the acid in this wine that demands food. But for $16, there aren't any American cab francs that I know of which can carry its jockstrap. And that's a fact.
