  • The 2010 Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin en Champs Vieilles Vignes is medium ruby in colour with a vibrant nose of red currants, bright cherries, steel and slight slate. Upon entry on the palate, the wine displays crushed red currants and ripe red berries before progressing to a clean steel like mid palate with an underlying soil-like earthiness that gives it a little bit of weight and character. Very lively and vivid with good acidity to showcase its style. A medium+ finish with tannins that pucker and a medium alcohol that rises up a little to quickly after the finish.

  • I wanted to try post-2005 Mortet for quite sometime and finally I decided to open this bottle. Not showing much at first, but the bouquet slowly expanding as it aged in the glass. Very fresh sweet strawberry and red cherry accompany by iron, salinity and just a touch of earthiness and wildness. I must say I was impressed by how good the wine it was. Sleek, wonderfully balance, pure and have the finesse even it shows a touch of rustic edge which was only added more character instead of interrupting. It has good fruits, saline mineral as well as freshness to buffer with the slight tannic, austere core. Juicy long and lingering. Very good, this will definitely shine in another 3-5yrs time and should stay at its peak for the next 10. 88-90

  • On the nose the vanilla from the wood and some spice (which I seldom find in GC) is present. There is enormous sweetness underlying the crisp acidity. On the palate it has good grip and persistency. The freshness from 2010 is there in big amounts. Great wine at this early stage.

  • Burgundy 2010 Tasting - Justerini & Brooks, London (London): Light colour with a compact and very precise palate of firm cherries and roses - incredibly restrained but with a nagging element of depth. Very good.
