Very pleasant and smooth merlot that has aged nicely. Great value. Not complex.Purple plum and dark red berry flavors on a very mellifluous passage on the palate. Nose has notes of sunny fruit, none stewed, and while it borders on New World style, it does not cross the line. No decant needed.

A nose of big black fruits. Very rich, slightly smoky and maybe slightly burnt. Massive fruit, but somehow still balanced; a peppery hit right at the back of the nose. Powerful. Power also in the mouth. Rich black fruits, especially blackcurrants, but with greener vine leaf edge. A big hit of spice - pepper and chilli. Full of life, and will sustain for years.

My last. Mature. Concentrated, dense black cherry/dark berry fruit, savoury herb and charred oak nuances. Full and rounded-out. Excellent - if never quite reaching the heights of some other vintages of this notable wine. Drink up soon.

Tasted blind. Deep purple. Nose quite closed initially but with some agitation delivers plum and some alcohol. Ripe, plummy fruit, lots of power with a strong presence of alcohol. Not too keen.

Drinking fabulously, a real steak wine that drinks as well as a big, bold California cab. The makers don't joke that this wine can age for 15 years or more. I would highly recommend getting into this bottle right now, or enjoy it this summer with a big meal. Deep, gorgeous blueberry pie and black olive flavors, with a nose that just doesn't stop. One of the best South African wines I've ever had.
