  • A nearly opaque wine of deep purple hues; dense at the core. The most masculine wine I can recall tasting from Ampelos. Big, powerful and sweet black cherry and Asian 5 spice with clove dominating the spicy aspects. Once the finish finally arrives - the attack and midpalate are themselves long-lived - the vanilla finally gives way to the oak. The wine is so big it somewhat tires the palate. An interesting wine for Ampelos, but it lacks the finesse that Peter’s wines often show. No sediment. 39 barrels made. 13.8% alc. With broiled salmon with a mustard-panko crust. Recommended.
