Sometimes when the quarter shipment of a wine club arrives, the reaction is more of a “meh” instead of an “oh, boy!” The arrival of this wine a couple of years back was definitely a “meh” moment. Down to the cellar it went, relegated a the back of bin, behind other wines and left until one of those days came along where I’m struck with, “oh, might as well drink this, I guess” sort of moment. New Year’s Day was that sort of day. The nose is rich with ground cloves, teaberry, black cherry and even a little violet. The flavors track the bouquet precisely and fully. The deep color suggests an opulence that frankly, I just didn’t expect. For a blended wine at the $20 price point (wine club price), this wine delivers. This is a pleasant surprise. Not a grain of sediment. 13.8% alc. With ham, cheeses and salumi. Recommended.

Lovely. Classic Sta. Rita hills fruit with notes of cherry, raspberry, vanillin, soft tannins. Unctuous mouthfeel, respectably long finish. Pleasure to drink.

Very good pinot noir with a good balance and complexity. Bitter in the palate which I love when a pinot has been made in the right way!
