No vintage on the label, but the lot code allowed us to deduce this was the 2010. Aromas are spicy, dusty, and tons of herbs. Meaty palate, with instant tannic attack. Lots of spices and herbs on the palate, paired with cutting tannins and acid. Tons more acid on the finish, and a bit of DEET and spicy acidity. Quite tart.

Much more enjoyable than its showing a year ago. Still surprisingly dark in color but the aromas and flavors seemed to have become cleaner and more focused. Notable barnyard notes on the nose to start but bright black fruit on the palate; several layers deep, there is a lot going on here. More like what I was expecting when I picked up these bottles. Quite good.

The prior two notes can't be describing this wine. Pale purple, light bodied, peppery bright black raspberries on the nose. A spicy and tangy expressive wine, plums and blackberries, minerals and chalk in the finish. Fanstastic with food, this wine tastes alive.

About as pleasing as being in the stands at a NASCAR event. After the cars whiz by, all you're left with is the odd smell of exhaust. In this case, it would be the smell of dog doo and the taste of mulched astringent leaves.

Far more substantial than I was anticipating: like I was expecting a twig and got a tree stump. Opaque purple with a clear meniscus. Aromas are reticent but suggest roots (beets), sassafrass, and soil. Very dense; structured; ripe; nothing I'd call floral or fruity about this. Opened too soon I think.
