  • Tasted over two days. Aromatically interesting. Made from grapes with botrytis, there's a funk on the nose, there's bitter, there's butter, and there's a salted fruit component to the nose as well.
Texturally there's a richness upfront that highlights a very creamy mid-palate which then segues to a salty and acidic finish.
Tastes like a salty and buttery pineapple creme brulee. Interesting wine that grows on me as it warms up in the glass. I'd drink it now, rather than hold. I think the intensity of flavor is where it's at and do not think the acid will carry it too much further.

  • Tasting with Elian Da Ros of Marmandais (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): This is 30% Sauvignon Blanc, 70% Semillon, only made in special vintages where the weather cooperates. This particular landed at 30-50% botrytised clusters, and made in a demi-sec style around 10g/liter sugar and 14%+ alcohol. All that comes across throughout this wine, as its aromas are quite thick and large, with rich zippy acidity coming through. Feels like it will be large on the palate, and it is. Thick and heavy body, with rich texture and some flavors of rubber cement. Pretty high octane stuff. Feels chunky with in-mouth aeration. Very big and rich on the finish, with thick and creamy notions lingering on the long, deep finish. Very long, in fact. Pretty heavy duty stuff.
