Considering that I held onto this bottle longer than I had planned, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it held up. Very smooth texture. Flavor was slightly oakier and less French-style than I remembered from my initial tasting at the winery. Paired well with a range of food.

This is almost all butter and cream with subtle floral, honey, nut, and creme brulee notes. Unctuous and rich. Lovely with spied chicken and corn chowder and sauteed scallops. Nice finish. Lacks complexity.

Man...this is not good! Starts out dull, muted, raw peanut, waxy lemon oil. No big spice, like previous Vintages of this wine....no "Marcassin-like" flavors, which I've experienced in the 2003 and 2004? After an hour....some spice shows up, still raw peanut, hazelnut, marshmallow vanilla oak. NOT at all what this wine should be. Too bad! 2003 and 2004 are WAY better. I'll call it 84.....but after a few hours...it started to do better. Maybe as good as 89. But not like a 97 I scored the 2004.

From memory (drank last summer) but I remember this wine well as it was my 2nd bottle. As others have correctly noted, this was a bit disjointed/unbalanced because it was so very oaky and buttery. It did much better with some food. Great dark amber/yellow color, seemed very extracted. a bit weird and hard to catagorize for me, but was interesting and enjoyable.

like what this did as it opened up. it was off balance and weird cold pop and pour though.
