Similar to my 2017 review. Burgundian. Oakiness a little more prominent, although that diminished a bit the second night. Perfect with a richly sauced halibut.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. I love the PNs and Cabs from Mountain Eden but the Chards have often felt bigger, oakier and richer than I prefer. Perhaps this one has benefited from more time in the blt then I used to give them? This showed up tonight with excellent energy and lift and well integrated oak. The palate had a terrific range of; citrus, mineral, spice and stone fruit flavors and came off kind off Meursault Ler Cru like for me. The price for this wine has jumped over time from great press so I'm still not likely to buy any myself but if more btls like this one show up at dinners Ill be happy to drink them. 93+

This was tasted blind along with the regular Mount Eden 2009 and Mount Eden Reserve 2009 as well as Talbott Sleepy Hollow Chard 2013 and Logan Sleepy Hollow 2013. All 5 were decanted into identical decanters and blinded/randomized but given little time to breathe before starting to taste them. This bottle looked the oldest in the decanter with a medium golden yellow color that was lighter in the glass than in the decanter. There was some nuttiness on the nose that suggested age if not a little oxidation along with vanilla and oak. The palate and mouth feel for me on this were a bit unstable and "mixed-up". It was somewhat creamy and suggested some citrus but also finished quite short. My least favorite of the 5 and and I think the consensus as well.

Stunningly good wine at this point in its evolution. The wine at this stage is in excellent balance. Buttery elements come forward as the wine opens, but they are not oppressive. On initial opening, there seemed to be two distinct flavors -- an almost-grassiness with the undercurrent of chardonnay with it's richness. These two quickly blended into a lush blending of classic California Chard with just the right touch of buttery-oakiness? This is a wonderful bottle; glad I have 3 more.

very very nice, typical chardonnay from california. Nice balance, wood, fruit and ripe tones.
