  • The bottle says 21.6% sugar at harvest, 7.65g/l total acidity and a pH of 3.25... crazy numbers. This has been open for three hours. It smells acidic and a little poopy. It smells like the inside of a skinned deer carcass, actually. Along with that, though, are some fruit notes and rotting blackberry. Doesn't smell very good, is what I'm getting at. The palate is better, with smooth light texture and nice acid building. It has some soft fruit and certainly some bitter tannins on the palate. Also graphite and higher tone red fruit. The finish starts with some of the funky notes, but then locks down fairly hard with strong tannins and acid. There's some of that rotting fruit, but as this lingers it gets better and better, with more higher tone brightness that develops. I like the way it lingers with the bright fruit, but I don't like that carcass that lingers.
