  • This outstanding bottle was graciously provided by Motz at the tasting I hosted on Saturday evening. Really dark and opaque in color. Has a powerful Columbia Valley nose of blueberries and vanilla - but also with hints of earth and spice. Full-bodied, very rich and silky. There's tremendous depth to its plum and blackberry fruit. Just a little too much oak on the long, rich finish though. Surprisingly tannic for a domestic Syrah. This is still a baby and should improve quite a bit over the next several years as the oak and tannins integrate more fully.

  • I brought this to a tasting Bam_Man hosted, so I am looking forward to his note.

Saturated purple. Upon opening, this smelled and tasted like it would be another oaky fruit bomb. Loads of blueberry like scents on the nose and lots of oak imparted vanilla. Good concentration on the palate but not a lot of character. Fairly simple and one-dimensional.

After a couple of hours it began to show smells and tastes similar to what one might expect from a Tuscan Syrah or Syrah blend. It became juicier, with more focus, balance, structure, and better minerality. With another three years of cellaring this could be quite nice.
