I was not a fan of this particular bottle for the price. Expected much more based on other reviews. I’m afraid there was a storage issue along the way. This was received by a local bottle shop with a decent wine selection in 2023 for what I assume was a 20-year re-release through various distribution channels. It honestly had the taste and mouthfeel of a Pinot Noir, very acidic, which leads me to believe it may have been exposed to excessive temperatures in transit. It was also stored upright in the store’s temperature-controlled wine cellar, as I had eyed it over the past several months.

Ha! Smells like an old Barossa Cabernet; dried out and raisined fruit, sweet spice, good quality oak also offers caramel, there is also a little sous bois, leather and blackcurrant here as well. Sour acid is mouth watering and contradicts the nose, drying tannins are leathery, coarse flour textured, a whisper of dilute fruit juice on the mid palate. Nah.

Double decanted for sediment and some air. Consumed over three hours or so. Secondary flavors all around. But still tart cherry so good acid balance. Glad to pop this now but it could go for another 5 years.
