  • Reinforces how much Leroy wines have improved since early 2000s and again since late 2000s. Classic floral aromatics, not the most lifted. Palate bit thin. (906/2048)

  • At Jade Palace for a "Top 10 Burg producer" theme. Dark red, with just the slightest hint of browning at the rim. This had an absolutely stunning bouquet. Either this was a Chambolle or something from Madam. I guessed the former, it was the latter. That complex elegance, the intensity and the sweetness was simply mesmerizing. On the palate, this had a tinge of rusticity and soil, with some roasted meat (this went lovely with a pigeon). There was sweet cherries, plums and strawberries and even some manuka honey. Over time, this faded ever so slightly, taking on secondary characteristics like leather, herbal tea and damp earth. But no doubt, this was a sensational village, 18 years young.

  • Initially tight and lean, but this opened beautifully. Great spice and energy. Not the most complex Leroy, but easy to enjoy if you forget about the price.

  • Old Pinot works for me when its is Working , this was very good in most respects > nose wasnt standard old pinot but the rest was , and a very tatsey wine at that > not much experience with Leroy wines , but for something in the no frills aisle like this i would keep coming back .
