Weekly tasting group #101; Just for fun; wines that came as a gift (@ DJ): Dark fruits in the bouquet. On the palate dark berry fruits, herbs and spices, white pepper, a good balance between sweetness and acidity and soft and round tannin. Very ok wine, not extremely luxurious, but a very good qpr.

The encépagement of the (10 ha of) vineyards is Grenache 40%, Syrah 30%, Cinsault 15%, Carignan 10% and Counoise 5%. Vibrant, purple colour with a cherry rim; the black fruit is ripe and sweet, there are spices and violets, but the wine is not succulent or soft; on the contrary it is fresh and quite tight and structured, the influence of the Syrah is clearly present. Should turn out well, but needs another 12 months to soften. Drink (late) 2014 - 2016.

Rosé blend of Grenache 40%, Syrah 30%, Cinsault 15%, Carignan 10%, Mourvedre 5%. Shows strawberry, herbal and leafy aromas that come off as Off-Dry. However, the palate is Extra-Dry with loads of minerality and tannin. This is a bigger rosé with a medium-body and a finish that is a touch hot. Balanced with medium-length finish.

Vegetal, meaty, dark ripe fruits. Old world wine. Very soft on the tannins at this point. Good, not great, but definitely a nice wine in it's style.

Complex old world red. Vegetal, sour, dark red fruit nose. Spice, smoke. Somewhat watery palate with medium tannins in the finish.
