Impeccably well stored bottle. Color did not indicate a wine greater than 20 years old much more nearly 50. Some nice blackberries, touches of red fruits, sage, tobacco and modest Oak before giving way to black tea which began to dominate the finish. Fully integrated tannins. Extra point for its longevity.

From known perfect provenance. Confectionery red raspberry out the gate, surprisingly fresh for 49- medium bodied, coffee and with more time black tea finish. Air exposure shows the wine is a bit too old for many drinkers, and probably peaked 15-20 years ago, its long, slow descent is more reminiscent of Bordeaux. I value this wine’s elegance, red fruit, age-ability, hiSTORY, and medium balanced mouthfeel. No madeira/ prune characteristics at all. While this wine is not the show horse next to some of the wines consumed tonight-(High end California Cab/ blends) it is a good example of balanced, long lived, medium bodied well made California cab.

Nose: sweet tobacco, red cherry, blueberries, graphite and sage. Palate: sweet red fruits, tobacco and loamy earth. Middle weight, but offering a creamy texture. Finish: faded fruit, fall leaves and more sweet tobacco.
Scores reflect just how hit or miss old wines from this era in Napa can be, but this was a winner. Reminder me of a mature LMHB with rounder sweeter fruit. Classic Stags Leap here.

not blind, perfect bottle in the nose some aging signs and a bit over his Peak. Not oxidized and still nicely drinkable but some dirty dust notes and almost no fruit. 88

Very tired without much fruit left, showing capsicum, mulchy loam, pencil, and cigar. Very Cabernet, but probably very much better 20 years ago.
