  • Color: dark ruby to the brim
Nose: leather, dark roasted coffee, sour cherry on the ripe side, burnt pipe tobacco
Palate: medium-high acidity, high tannins not resolved. Big, chewy body, as full as it gets. Balanced however. The coffee grounds really jump at you
    Finish: long

This wine is huge, and despite the 20+ years in bottlez it has a ton of youthful might. Three hours decanting brought it to a very nice place with tertiaries showing, fruit still stubbornly there, and tannins and acidity that still make it a great match for the cotechino and lentil meal that is obligatory on the first day of the year

  • Opened a Jereboam for a family event, was fantastic with short rib. Even better day 2.

  • This is the second tasting of the same bottle. (First impression and note was from a coravin sample - today’s note is after extensive aeration.) very pronounced spices on top of dark red fruit. Thyme, oregano, tarragon, black pepper, cassis, tobacco and aged leather. Great complexity, and pronounced acidity. Long, round and pleasant finish, with both the spice and fruit persisting. Really nice stuff and very particular.

  • Dark red fruit, eucalyptus, dried figs, camphor. Tamed, well integrated tannins. New leather and hints of tobacco on the finish. Pronounced acidity throughout. Very nice. Unfortunately my one and only bottle.

  • There are some bottle variation. Last bottle became a red wine sauce, a delicious, but also expensive one as wine made no fun to drink.
Different this one: mature, dark color and full of tertiary aromas in nose. But also some dark berries, almost compote and corinths, but quite some freshness. Soft and bold with loads of tannins but very soft. Some acidity to give backbone which is needed as fruit is somehow still a bit missing for me. Long finish. Quite some sediment.
