A good cool climate Cabernet Sauvignon that never reached great heights. While it has the noise of a straight-line 6 cylinder engine, it lacked complexity reducing it to a turbo charged four cylinder engine. Got to the finishing line but not at speed and the expected exhilaration. Drink now.

Deep ruby with a hint of garnet. Large rim variation. Big shadowy centre. Great nose of black fruit with a hint of chocolate and a late airy raisin. Big! Very well blended with a consistent fine chalky, slightly grippy tannin all the way through. It's up there!

Nose: green olive, raspberry. Herbaceous, with notes of thyme, anise, pepper and mustard seeds. Palate: closed, with bitter black tobacco on the entry, then thyme and tarragon, with juicy blackberry on the finish. Incredibly tight, and takes hours to unwind, but the structure eventually becomes rich and silky-smooth. Concentrated blackberry and cranberry emerge to battle the herbal notes, and a big, round vanilla note is revealed. Complex, concentrated and powerful, but needs decanting to become palatable.

NobleRottersSydney - Christmas Lunch 2011 (David's place): [cork] A very correct, if new world cabernet; dark garnet in colour, it has aromas of currants, herbs and some subtle cedary oak. It’s medium-bodied, with medium chalky tannins. Clearly on its developmental trajectory, the nicely aging cabernet fruit can’t quite conceal the dip on the mid and back palate. Still it’s a well-put together wine which provides satisfactory drinking now, without really making an impression.

A full bodied wine, with Vanilla oak and berries backed by smooth tannins. Straight-forward CS and drinking quite well now.
