Dinner at Windsor Arms. Dark gold colour. Nicely balanced, not too sweet with enough acidity. Smooth, not heavy, easy drinking. Short finish, quite simple. Lacks the nose, richness and complexity of the better Sauternes. But still quite enjoyable as a dessert on its own.

Golden on the eye. Powerful aromas of tangerine orange. The palate is very sweet, intense candied orange, quite rich, sticky and unctuous. There's some alcoholic heat on the finish but with good acidity too to balance it up a bit. This is not subtle but very good nonetheless but one small glass is plenty.

The wine is clear and bright with a medium gold colour and presence of dense legs. The nose is clean and developing, showing pronounced intensity aromas of honey, candied orange peel, glue, ripe pineapple and ripe peaches. The wine is sweet with a medium+ acidity. It has a medium+ alcohol, full body and pronounced intensity aromas of honey, candied orange peel, ripe pineapple and ripe peaches. Long finish.
It is a very good quality wine with a nice fruit concentration and a lingering finish, as well as a good balance between sweetness and acidity. It could be more complex though. Drink now, but it has enough acidity and fruit concentration to develop more complexity over the next 5-8 years.

A private lunch (Restaurant The Fat Duck ***, Bray-on-Thames, UK): Vespaiola. Elegant, honeyed botrytis, lovely bitters, good length.
