I am upping my previous score significantly. This bottle just showed beautifully last night--it might have been the best bottle of Petite Syrah I have ever had. Beautiful fruit and a long finish. Outstanding effort from Quixote in a vintage they consider to be among their best. Wow.

The drinking window for this wine is just starting to open. My usual rule for Quixote PS is to wait at least eight years before drinking. When I've followed that policy in the past, I've almost always been rewarded. I jumped the gun a little because I was curious about the '08, which the winery said was their best vintage ever. This wine is still tannic, but you can tell there is very good fruit lurking below the surface. I decanted this bottle for an hour, which was probably not long enough. I rated it 92 on potential alone, though.

Nothing says "party" like a magnum of Quixote. This wine just takes the evening up to another level.
