Decided to crack up another bottle, I enjoy one of these per month and share a few bottles with friends. This wine needs to be drunk, most bottles have been great, but all are showing their age. The one I opened today is dying quickly, even as I sit here writing this I can tell how it's changing. Upon opening it was really smooth, earthy with a little fruit remaining, but the air is causing the volatile aromas to evaporate and it's starting to smell and taste sour. So I better drink fast! It's amazing to see it change so quickly but obviously it is understandable.

Decided to break the case! It is old, but has held up well. Surprised by the fruit still in this wine. On the nose: nice clean fruit of cherry, raspberry, and minerality. Very clean. On the palate: fruit came through especially with a little time. Tasted some nice tart cherries and strawberries, a little barnyard..just a hint, still some backbone and nice medium body. It is definitely time to drink this, fruit will only diminish from now on, it was probably at its peak two years ago. Nevertheless, a classic French Bordeaux that withstood the test of time. Probably was a beast in its day!
