At 14 years this is still a big wine. Attractive dark crimson with the correct bouquet for a cab-shiraz. The palate is a well judged mix of the two varieties with sweet plummy fruit, secluded vanilla oak, smooth tannin and nice acidity. Drank this with braised lamb and it matched perfectly. It is a very fruity wine with excellent density and length.
Saved the rest of the bottle in a small airline bottle. Second day, it is still the same profile but now superbly sweet. I like it but some would be critical of that.

Vertical tasting dinner with 2005, 2006 & 2008 Yalumba Signatures (decanted 3 hours). All three drank with dinner which was lamb 3 ways (rosemary lamb chops, braised lamb breast stuffed w merguez), lobster mac & cheese & minted peas.
2008: lovely nose, smooth dark fruit and chocolate with a slight peppery medium-long finish. Would probably go for a couple of years yet given the experience we had with the 05 & 06.

Big and brash with a swag of darkly scented fruit. Weighty on the palate too. I enjoyed the hedonistic pleasure enough to forgive the rather obvious acid on the finish.

Nose is slightly muted with shiraz dominating - chocolate, coffee, prunes, blueberry. In the mouth after the initial attack of blueberries and warm spices, there is a nice menthol coolness with fresh plums, that manage to balance things out, dusty tannins. Barossa fruit only, mixture of old/new, French/American oak, good typicity for the region/style.

This is delicious and will cellar and continue to develop well past 2023. Still dark red with the slightest hint of bricking at the edges. Good fruit with the Shiraz adding body to the cabernet. Layers of flavor, balanced wood, fruit, tannins and acid. Beautiful example of Barossa Cabernet/Shiraz. 93
