Surprise package of the evening because I've not heard of the maker and it's so darn good. A very lovely and mellow Echezeaux, lots of classicism, sou bois and autumnal leaves, with touches of dried cherry fruits that is still going strong. Not at all drying out whatsoever.

Double-blind. Tannins were pretty much all resolved, autumn leaves and damp earth throughout. Lack structure to be identified as a Grand Cru, drink up soon.

Jason's birthday: Very aromatic and expressive, some olive tapenade, resolved tannins. Was sure this was a Northern Rhone from a warm vintage, guessed late 90s. Totally off...

Jason's birthday: Lovely autumnal dark berries, excellent purity of fruit and structure such that I was guessing a strong vintage from the late ‘90s. Some smokiness that made me think northern Rhone, in fact the delicate fruit reminded me of the Chave I had last year! Great wine - this producer’s ‘99 Vosne 1er was my epiphany Burgundy back in 2016.

Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (La Belle Vie, Mpls): Medium red color with no bricking. PNP, drank 1 glass over 90 minutes. Start off a bit closed and introspective, but really blew up after about 20-30 minutes, becoming very floral with rose petals, dry earthiness, mushroom, mineral, and red fruit. The palate was red fruited, cherry, currants, earthy, lots of mineral character. Really quite good with time and drinks with youthful vigor. Thanks Craig.
