Pretty, earthy aromas of dark berries, spice and flowers on the nose. Full-bodied, rich and velvety in texture. Bone dry, yet bursting with delicious raspberry and plum fruit flavor. There's excellent length on the finish, along with notes of cracked pepper and bramble. Shows a bit of heat both on the nose and palate, but this is only a minor detraction. A rich and delicious Languedoc blockbuster. 50+5+12+16+7=90

Had in Montreal at au pied de cochon. Went well with our duck and foie gras...very fruit forward upon opening and only improved dramatically over one hour

One Heck of a Saturday: This wine continues to impress. It's Southern Rhone-like it its dark fruit and grippy tannins, but there's some dirty, earthy and rustic qualities that scream Languedoc. This would be perfect with rack of lamb or something like that.

A Tasting with Peter Weygandt (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): I'm glad Weygandt Wines will be bringing this stuff in. I've been a fan of Canet-Valette since I tasted their wines when I was just getting into wine. It's been years since I've had one, and the 2009 Une et Mille Nuits was a great re-introduction. Very fragrant, showing black olives, smoke, and lots of plums and dates. The palate is full of dates, plum skins and gritty tannins. The fruit is backed up with savory broth, smoke and black pepper. Long, complex finish. This begs for lamb.

Rough but in a positive way. A splendid drink for flavor rich and dark sauces.
