I bought this several years ago when I was up in Seattle visiting my wife’s sister. Thus, with my wife’s parents now here with us for the holidays, I felt it was some sort of perverse full-circle kind of thing. Pale yellow in the glass and more mineral than fruity, this wine is clearly unoaked and vibrant. The acidity is not what one might expect from a Chard (sorry “Shard”) as it is present and bracing. There is some fruit, but not quite enough to balance out the tartness. Still, a solid effort. thedrunkencyclist.com

Solid citrus nose with the slightest hint of creaminess. Bright and fresh on the palate with that same citrus and a dash of mineralogy. A great option for the ABC crowd. Really any crowd that likes solid wine. Very Good. thedrunkencyclist.com

Clean, brisk, apple/pear non-malo Chardonnay. Would score it much higher if it had any complexity. The west coast Chardonnay conundrum seems to be that ripe leads to complexity but lacks the tight mineral freshness factor that leads to white burgundy nobility. Perhaps 3 more years in the cellar?

2011 Baer Winery Shard ($19). Bright and clean, with nice fruit. They were offering a three-pack for $49, so we bought three to drink while in Seattle (but we were leaving the next day….). 87-89 points.
