Really enjoyed this - it was my first wine from La Castellada. Decanted it - the thing which I like about this wine was that it still had a good bit of citrus/acidity on the palate, which (for me) made it a more enjoyable than some of the other orange wines from around Friuli - it gave the wine more balance. Although the palate showed a more complexity after it warmed up a bit in the glass, the acidity was still there, keeping the structure together & balanced. If you want an introduction to the orange wines of the Friuli region, this would be a good one to start with. For me, this is a terrific wine.

This was a beautiful amber color. Medium in body, it paired well with and changed substantially alongside casunzei, a beet ravioli dish. At first I got hints of orange rind and white truffles (I know that sounds wrong, but it's what I sensed). The food really brought out a pronounced nose of butterscotch, accompanied by slight vanilla tones. This was really interesting and enjoyable to drink, and a very successful food pairing. RECOMMENDED.

extraordinary. opens as a crisp, medium bodied wine with racy and firm acid and minerals, straw, grass, and herbs. with time deepens in color, gains body, develops honey and tokaji-like bitter apricot and toffee flavors. wonderful in both of its incarnations.
