Solid and well made and consistently the best the country has to offer. Granted this is not very Greek in varieties and style but for sure makes us proud every time we have this and inherently overpay for it. Nice on the nose, very bdx as expected, balanced and not overdone in oak or extraction. On the palate it is forward on the fruit and can be enjoyed nicely at this moment, pure and mellow, silky, in a way new world but what we would like to see more from the new world. In general a sense of "forwardness" and early enjoyment but without the over done features that new world producers feel oblidged to deliver too. 92-3

Athens in November, Great food, some truffles and some great wine; 11/18/2011-11/20/2011 (Athens, Greece): Consistently among the best the country has to offer in reds. Elegant, well made. Wine is now well round with silky tannins and drinks nicely and could well be peaking. Long, good fruit, a touch too round maybe but very enjoyable. Price reflect its cult status unfortunately soexpect to pay 70-80 euros a bottle.91-92, drink from now

Dionysia 2011 - Athens Wine Festival (The Zappion, Athens, Greece): Among the best Greece makes in terms of quality and character. Cab Sauvignon and cab franc so not really Greek origins there but still a big powerful complex wine which can rival it's French cousins. Very well made and very elegant. Watch out as cult status impacts pricing in restaurants.

This is an iconic Greek red from international (Bordeaux) varieties that has enjoyed cult wine status during the past years. I have tasted almost all vintages to date and I have noticed significant variation in quality among them. The 2006 seems to be one of the weakest to date. Very shy nose with cassis, cherry and hints of cedar on the nose. Mid-bodied, hollow on the mid-palate with soft tanins and balancing acidity. Medium finish.

Purple colored. Treacly. Elegant aroma's of raspberry, blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, game, and barnyard. Intertwining flavors of raspberry, red currant, vanilla, oak, and mushroom. Medium/full bodied. Round and fleshy texture. Impressive length.
