  • Simply a delight. The fruit has receded a bit and other elements are beautifully integrated. The wine was good in its youth, but it now shows a subtle layering of flavors. This struck me as a wine at its peak. Drink and enjoy!

  • We really enjoyed this Merlot. Expressive nose with milk chocolate, ripe but not cooked blueberry fruit, dried almonds. The plum and black fruit flavors were balanced by decent acidity and it didn't seem overly wood flavored. A touch on the sweet side. I liked this better than the 03 Cabernet Sauvignon from Fielding Hills, which seemed bigger, more extracted and more aggressively oaky.

  • I would rate this right with
the 94 point Ahnfeldt. This fruit is a bit brighter, but it is also only 74% merlot. At first the date or plumb note hits right out of the bottle, then goes into a rich cherry fruit, mild tannins and good finish. Solid mid palate and a great value for this price! Once open for awhile that that date note I don't care for is gone and both my wife and I loved it.
