  • Fabulous riesling, still at its peak. Medium golden color. Very pronounced complex, sweet, floral nose, honey and peaches. Rich and full on the palate, moderate sweetness but perfectly balanced with acid. Very long aftertaste. May easily hold several more years.

  • Dark gold in color with an appealingly spicy and smoky nose. Definitely sweet but the high acidity brings it in balance. There's very little sign of oxidation and this seems like it could age forever. Delicious and typically powerful Zind-Humbrecht that would work well with foie gras, cheese, Sichuan, or Indian food.

  • Spectacular Riesling - this is the kind of experience I look for with nearly 3 decades of bottle age. This is firing on all cylinders right now with ripe orchard fruit, exotic floral notes, intense minerality, and mature smoky and petrol-like elements all coming together into a seamless whole. There's moderate sweetness - less than many modern Spätlese - matched by bright acids and the finish just goes on and on. Brilliant.

  • This half bottle has rested for years in my cellar in part because I wasn't sure how to enjoy this wine. The bottle was in good shape and cork was tight and came out in one piece. The wine’s color is golden rich much like that of dried golden raisins. The nose is rich without any petrol elements that you notice in a number of (German) Rieslings. Its like drinking a demi-sec Loire or dry Sauternes except it's made from Riesling. No volatile elements either in the nose or palate make this wine a real winner from the very start. Nose and palate include elements of apricot, raisin, and black tea along with a well-balanced finish - with good acidity - and flavors of toasted coconut and red apple. Lovely.

    A very sophisticated wine!

Back of label states: 4.0% Brix Residual Sugar. 12% ABV.

Served with homemade cream of celery soup (recipe courtesy of Williams Selyem) spiced up with a touch of Tabasco along with buttermilk biscuits.

  • Pretty spectacular stuff. Sweet, but not too much. Some acid, but not too much. Great juice...
