Wow - - interesting. It's nice to know that there are 22 other crazy people out there that decided to hold this one for 2.5 years like I did. You'll be rewarded but this one is starting to decline. Uncorked to a black caramelized dark red stain on the cork. The wine was poured almost immediately into the glass with a purplish hue. Mild gritty sediment on the neck. Without even looking at it, I could tell that this one was heavy Syrah - 73 percent. This wine drinks like an aged northern Rhone. Very delicate on the entry, but with good grippy fruity balance on the front that was more fig, jam, and plum. The middle ramped up a bit, while still maintaining a rather velvety backbone. There was integration of some good wild berry and some sweet caramel type notes throughout the middle, but was interlaced so well with the powerful syrah front that it was hard to distinguish when the middle really took over. The finish was strong and powerful - black pepper but rather devoid of tannin that probably left about 6-12 months ago. I know for a fact that I had two bottles of this, and I'm rather certain I scored the first bottle but no note is found. Remembering back I thought this wine had some serious potential, but the first impression was less than stellar. I apologize, Troublemaker #2. You turned out to be a very nice, very balanced, very integrated and complex wine 2.5 years later. Those who popped and poured this one missed out on a terrible little $20 gem. Revising drink by date to 2015, as the "Drink Latest" date is obviously wrong.

Decent QPR. Fruit forward with some licorice and veggies. Used to braise a pot roast and to limber up the cook. Could do better, could do worse at $16. If scoring - 85-87.
