This is a dark and inky wine: practically black, with a tinge of crimson and violet. The nose is meaty, floral and ocean spray salty. It's the kind of nose that makes you hungry. The palate is pure blackberry and plum, with the tiniest bit of pepper. As hoped, it went well with homemade barbecued bean, oat & nut burgers finished with plenty of avocado. After a while, the nose calms down, and the palate reveals layers of licorice, tar, cherry and kale, making it a good accompaniment for after dinner conversation.

Expected much more. Awfully closed down. Maybe needed more time. Probably didn't help to taste next to a big Aussie Shiraz, but it just didn't have much life, even given an hour and a half decant. Pretty disappointed.

Took a while to open up, but nose huge violets, evolving into raw bloody meat and dirt. Imagine your butcher brought you flowers. Nose follows to palate, medium wieght, a bit of tannin and crisp finish. Not a huge wine, but what 2010 brought to a typically hot site.

Took awhile to open up, just alcohol to start. Undewhelming after that. Blackberry notes, light fruit, integrated tannins. Just not much there.

Yakima Valley Maiden Voyage Tasting Tour!; 11/14/2012-11/18/2012 (Yakima Valley AVA, Naches Heights, Snipes, Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain, Rattlesnake AVAs): Herbal, lavender and sage aromatics along with plum and spiced cider. Blackberry preserves with exotic warm spices on the palate. A big wine, but balance is in check with nice acidity and flowing finish until the end.
