Dark plum notes on the nose. Intense, focused fruit, plums, blueberries, rare roast meat. Tannins are very fine and sharp. Great acidity and nice balance. Finishes long with dark fruits and pepper notes. This wine has a long way to go and should get better for 3 to 5 years.

(An evening of cello and poetry in the Ojai tasting room.) Tight and closed at this stage of its development. I was surprised they poured this as one of the offerings tonight. Left in barrel for more than two years, it took time in the glass to coax even a smidge of character out of this one. Dusty minerals followed by plum and cigar box notes. Just wasn't doing it for me tonight. The cellist was great though. (=Pass)

Very solid wine for the price. Was pleasantly surprised. Deep red color to it. Nose of black pepper / a touch of game / mocha / olive. Med bodied wine. Silky smooth and juicy / tasty. Fairly long finish with fantastic acidity and tannins pretty much in check. Don't know that this gets better but a pleasure to drink right now.

Had its moments, which seemed to sort of come and go and come and go.
