Initially got a lot of oak on the nose, as it opened up that got softer and developed more into pear. It's a bright wine still, showing its youth. Melon and kiwi on the palate initially, again showing some pear as it developed. The wine has some body and a nice length. Very enjoyable and will look forward to trying the next bottle in a couple of years.

Hunter Wineries (2) - Broke Rd: {screwcap, 11.5%, A$36} Tight, youthful nose of cashews, flint and figs. There’s a cedary seasoning to the tropical fruit flavours, but they have a grey-washed steeliness to them as well which stops it being just another warm-climate chardonnay. It’s quite full-flavoured on the medium-bodied palate, dry, and with even coverage of the tongue culminating in a freshly acidic, medium length finish. As cool and refreshing (but not unripe) as the alcohol level suggests. Great chardonnay.

Langton's Cellar Club August 2013 (Roof Terrace Australian Museum): Toast, lemon, slight spice…in the mouth citrus and oak, out of balance…because of youth? If so, why sell it in this state? to cellar? Not very impressed I must confess

Hunter Valley Visit 2013; 4/26/2013-4/29/2013 (Hunter Valley, Australia): Appealing aromatics - some perfumed floral notes, very light oak and lime. Well textured and balanced with good length. Should develop nicely in the medium term.
