Dark and brooding in the glass. On the nose: plummy and vanilla with white chocolate. On the palate: Full bodied with soft velvety plush tannins, some dark fruit but in the background. Tart cherries on the medium finish. Not overly complex but really delicious.

Lush black and dark red fruit with some olive and pepper notes is marred by a bit of heat. After three hours open in the bottle it was a bit more in balance. Medium+ body... the tannins still have some grip and hold the palate through a long finish. Deep violet color and unfiltered so it threw a bunch of sediment. Not totally harmonious but still quite drinkable and will hold a bit longer.

Last bottle. The fruit is getting a bit strong - almost overripe, but given overall complexity and balance, it is still excellent. Drink soon for most enjoyment.

Back, Back in the USofA (StrEat Restaurant, Austin, Texas): The least favorite in the flight, this wine was purple in color with a muted, slightly herbal/ green nose of sour black cherry, raisin, blueberry, and burnt coffee. While the palate showed blueberry, sour red fruits, orange zest and some toasted oak, the "burnt week-old coffee" note was persistent and unpleasant for all. Wine was out of balance--the fruit separating from the alcohol made the structure seem sour and acidic with a short, underwhelming finish. Way past it's prime.

Simply delicious. This is at the top of it's game. Takes about 15-20 minutes to really open up. Similar tasting notes to 6 months ago. Drink now or over the next 3 years.
