Consumed over two nights. Nine years since my first bottle and this is still showing similarly. Some funk on the nose and sweet berry fruit on the palate. Wide open and delicious.

Tasted vis-a-vis the Magnien VV Chambole, there's a a lot less to like here; seems dull, a bit gemacht. Nothing wrong with it, still a young wine, certainly, just lacking excitement. Will return. Much better on day 2, I'm upgrading it, has an interesting steely feel and a very clear cut fruit; very much a 2010, just not as sexy as Magnien. #Henrik, PB & Co.

I recently picked up several '09 and '10 Burgundy wines, when a huge lot came to market. I stayed in the low price range of the available, but have not been disappointed in the least. This bottle of Chezaux has been the best, so far, and it was just spectacular for an $85 1er Cru. I wish I could have gotten more of this one.

Blind pairs (Chicago, IL): Tasted double blind next to the Pruliers. I liked the Pruliers a little more for its bright red fruit. In contrast, this was a much more brooding wine, with a darker, more powerful character, as well as a touch of earthy minerality that had us thinking Gevrey. It was pretty clear that the two wines were made by the same hand, as the oak treatments (very light) and crunchy mineral textures were similar.

5th of 6 at 2010 wine dinner. Good acid balance with fruit. Nice finish.
