I didn't know what to expect with this wine given its age, since it's essentially just an entry level Collio blend of sauvignon, riesling and friulano (as far as I can find out), albeit from a top name. There's a touch of oxidation to the nose but the fruit is vibrant and bright with hints of apricot, flat peach, preserved lemon and yellow apple, mingling with sesame seed and honeysuckle. A perfect combination of freshness and richness, this feels wonderfully autumnal and really builds in the mouth, with a grating of nutmeg overlaying the flavours of the nose. The oak is long since integrated into the flavours of the wine, finishing clean and self-assured (if a little lacking in length). One of the most compelling wines I've had for a while.
