Tasted from jeroboam. More than 10 years aged on lees. Liquid gold color. Very complex and rich aromatics of mature champagne with bread, almonds and hints of citrus fruits. Lots of freshness. Creamy soft texture and fuller body. Floral touch of Chardonnay and depth of Pinot Noir. Noticeable oak influence. 50% of the wines are matured in oak barrels for 1 year. Drappier also add oak matured reserve wines to liqueur d’expédition. Blend of 65% PN, 35% Ch. Minimal use of sulphur (<30 mg/l). Dosage 5.6 g/l Full malo, no filtering.
2006 from Drappier feels more developed as opposed to the one from Egly-Ouriet tasted from magnum earlier. Despite the larger format. Both PN dominant and extra long lees aging. My observation is that Drappier matures earlier also due to low SO2 regime. Of course winemaking and Terroirs are very different.

Decent quality and at the end of its life span. Very soft mousse with medium (+) acidity and a soft but still abundant mouth feel. Notes of baked apple, gentle honey and slight nuttiness.

This is another brilliant vintage wine by Drappier and represents superb value for money.
The wine has an extremely pleasing light gold tinge. It also has a very complex and rich nose with hints of citrus, red berry fruits, brioche, vanilla, spice, hazelnuts and almonds. The vanilla testifies to the high proportion of Chardonnay (35%) whilst the depth of the Pinot Noir (65%) is expressed in the form of red fruits and violets.
The palate is rich, creamy with lots of red fruit, apples and spice.
Very pleasing finish with good acidity.
It's a strong wine that can be served as an aperitif or with food - risotto, chicken and veal.

La Fete: Gala Dinner (Chelsea Piers: Pier 60): Very cold, high acid, touch of sweet. Drinking well now but I'd still give it more time.
