Quite special. Med>Dark straw color; bright and clear. The nose is sweet, ripe, with fleshy orchard fruits and crunchy minerals at the base of it all. Superb acidity keeps it all well-lifted, well delineated. Some almond butter and honey are a nice contrast to the tangy, elegant fruits. Not the most complex package, but wows on the palate with loads of finesse and purity. I've one left that I'll let age for some years. 13,5% abv., recommended
My first introduction to this producer and a great one at that. Started off rather simple in terms of aromatics, but seemingly classic chenin blanc. What was more interesting was the radical shift between two different personalities--it started off as tight, firm, mineral-driven and bracing with beautiful acidity but blossomed toward a tutti-frutti explosion with noticeable sweetness that was completely absent in the introduction. A fascinating wine that evolved over the course of an evening. Pairing with food (specifically a parsley pea risotto with oven roasted Jerusalem artichokes) brought the fruit out quite a bit. Delicious chenin.
