Am Amoureuses Birthday (Asador Bastian - Chicago IL): In vertical. All opened ~45 minutes before serving, then enjoyed over two hours. This in the vintage that kept improving in glass. This started out ripe and slightly brooding, but ending rich, big and powerful with more elegance and finesse coming through, too. Lots of upside.

Birthday Dinner Featuring Bonneau du Martray and the Very Best of Chambolle-Musigny (The Bristol - Chicago IL): The star in a great Amoureuses flight. Amazingly bright red fruits everywhere with the brilliant weightless textures only found in the greatest wines form Chambolle, making it even brighter and seeming to glide across your tongue, even with its very good weight and density. My first time tasting this wine since the day before it was bottled in 2014.

Bright Ruby. Slightly closed nose of blue fruit, slightly meaty, hay and hint of Rose petal. A firm thread of savoury tannin coupled with blue cool fruits. Long but slightly anaemic from a fruit sense. Closed for business.

Indulgence.....: Airy, highly seductive aromas as always display from Mugnier. Rose petal, lavender, brown sugar, sweet perfume of red, blue and even a touch of blackcurrant. Lightly Indian spices, forest floor and savouriness emerges in the glass with aeration. Amazing acidity, very long with silky tannin that is already so well integrated even at this young stage. The wine continues to grow on your palate. So much wines going on here. A complete wine and drinking best today. The Mugnier + Chambolle trademark elegant and purity. Amazing.

PNP into Riedel pinot noir glass (“Leaf” day): Pale ruby with garnet rims.
Almost strawberry jam-like ripeness. Stalky.
Not very refined on palate. A little alcoholic. Is this what this is supposed to be? Not much of the ethereal characters.
90-91 points.
3 hours upon opening: slightly more complex on nose. More tea like notes. 91-92 points.
