Hour and a half decant, the nose is full of black olives and plums, interesting mix. The palate is astringent and slightly severe to begin with but air brings it down a notch and makes it more reasonable. Having tried this vintage and the 2011 I found this one to be a little easier to drink. Still not a big fan of bonarda from this vineyard, I prefer offerings from Zolo and in particular Durigutti.

Not quite as good as the '09 (which was one of my top QPRs of last year) but still a very enjoyable wine for under $15. This vintage has a TON of oak, so much so that it will turn off some drinkers; I liked it though. A bit rough around the edges, but a lot of condensed Bonarda fruit and a very easy drinker.

Medium to dark red color. Sharp nose with sour cherry, cedar and alcohol. Powerful tannins, almost bitter. Medium body. Long dry fish. Tannins are so present that they overwhelm any fruit, but you get cigar box and mint taste. Overall this wine needs to mellow, before drinking again.
