  • Prior bottle was 18 months ago and this wine has improved in terms of integration and balance. Open only an hour ahead of time tonight and it continued to improve over a total of four hours. Very similar nose to prior bottle with notes of red cherry, floral, leather and mineral. Close to full bodied (14% ABV), but again, so nicely balanced that it feels less weighty than it actually is. A mix of bright red cherry upfront with mineral accented wildberry behind and tart cherry towards the back. On the finish, has integrated spices, earth and mineral notes. Has improved in terms of both integration (finish is much more neatly tied into the body of the wine) and balance (fruit and structure notes have come together nicely for a much more complete overall bottle). Given how brightly the fruit is showing currently and how well integrated than tannins are now, this wine feels close to or at peak, but with several more years at this level. Very good QPR and my patience was fully rewarded; really wish I had another bottle or two.

  • This wine has improved far more than I would've thought possible when I opened my first bottle nearly two years ago (June 2014). Opened about 2.5 hours ahead of time and was fully rewarded for the patience. Red cherry, floral and mineral notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied and actually probably closer to full, but so smooth and balanced through the middle it comes off as medium. Bright red cherry upfront backed with wildberry and finishing with tart cherry, excellent mineral qualities and hints of spices, earth and iron. Tannins provided structure, especially through the finish, but they are almost fully integrated into the wine; no overly drying notes. Overall, this wine has integrated more than I thought possible, has balanced out better than I anticipated and added complexity through the middle while retaining that youthful bright fruit quality. Very pleased with how this wine has turned out and I expected to have my last bottle in the next year to enjoy it at this current stage.

  • Rose and cherry and the nose. Lots of red cherry fruit that gets brighter the longer the wine is open. Adds in some richness and earthy notes on the finish. Still very much on the young side as the tannins on the finish aren’t yet fully integrated. Should probably improve over the next few years as it comes into balance and smooths out a bit. While it’s pleasant, it’s straight forward and not particularly complex.

  • Very good generic nebbiolo. Roses and berries up front with some tarmac on the nose. Balanced flavour with good acidity, tannins and fruit. A little aggressive oak towards the finish but that will probably settle quite soon.
