I should note that this NV bottle had been cellared roughly 8 years after purchase. That said, it was big and weighty, with lots of bread and nut on the nose and on the palate. We drank this alongside a 2008 Goutorbe Special club, and comparatively this bottle was extremely rich and unsubtle. Both bottles were fantastic, but on two different sides of the champagne experience.

Part of the meal/wine pairing at NéMo in Tokyo. Lemony on the nose. Fine bubbles. Dry and elegant on the palate; more angular and lean than round. Short-ish finish.

(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Brut) Light lemon yellow color with abundant mousse; pear cream nose; tasty, pear cream, apple cream palate; medium-plus finish
(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Brut) Light yellow color with few small bubbles; yeasty, tart apple nose; yeasty, tart apple palate; medium finish (80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay)
(NV Jean Lallement Brut) ($58.00) And this is the most crystalline, pointillist, filigree rendition of this cuvée ever. Maybe it’s the ’08. And there can’t possibly be a better NV in Champagne. The finish alone is a glow of mystery and beauty. 80% ’08, 20% ’07. 80PN/20CH, disgorged 11/10.
(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Brut) Light yellow color; narrow, tart apple, toast, pear nose; tangy, tart pear, apple palate, rather simple; medium finish 90+ pts. (80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay)
(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Brut) Floral, bright lemon and orange blossom nose; tasty, crisp, refreshing lime and lemon palate with good acidity; medium-plus finish
(NV Jean Lallement Brut) This had wonderful yeasty flavors and lovely red fruits. Pure, with great depth and potent minerality. This is very suave. Kept gaining in richness and focus as the night went on.
(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Brut) Focused peach nose; peach palate; medium finish

Nonsense value on this Champagne, what an absolute gem.
Filled with toasted notes, which is what I’m looking for in a Champagne.
Downside is bubbles disappear quite quickly.

2/6/2023 - scorbett Likes this wine:
Nose: biscuit/arrowroot cookie, maybe a hint of lemon meringue.
Palate: rich raspberry-citrus, nice malty bite, tongue-coating and juuuuuuuust not quite dry.
Was advertised as a "gourmand's champagne" and did not disappoint. This is a lusty friend with food, as opposed to an austere refresher.
Major recommend. Exactly what I am looking for at least half the time in a bubbly.
