Think the wine has peaked which only means that it will begin its decline. Intense aromas of red and black cherries, raspberry, marionberry. licorice, and oak. Flavors and structure remain towards the front and upper palate. Nice mouthfeel. Almost no finish.

Quite impressed by how much the wine has deepened since I tried a bottle upon release. Did not decant and looking forward to doing so with next bottle. Wonderful aromas typical of vineyard. Wine still shows some bright fruit flavors and nice acidity. Medium weight and food friendly.

Medium garnet color. Black cherry, flowers (roses?), and some straw notes in the nose. On the palate, the black cherries and other black fruit take center stage. Not particularly concentrated, somewhat closed, nice finish. This was one of three 2001s opened in two days, with relatively consistent impressions across producers.
