Older Oregon Pinots (Wildwood, Portland OR): nose: this was a shock to the system on the nose after all of the 20-30 year old pinots. This came off as a complete baby compared to them with intense tones of dark red cherries, spice tones and bits of black licorice
taste: full bodied with medium acidity and rich tones of dark red cherries, spice tones, licorice, berries and a bit of herb tones. Well balanced with nice plushness, but still large scaled a bit
overall: This was a complete changeup from what we had been having. I wonder if it's the shock to the palate or the wine, but it was large scaled and a bit chunky as well. It was also lacking some of the depth that other wines had

Old Oregon Pinot Noir - Wine Berserker off-line (Wildwood restaurant - Portland, OR): Very youthful still. Bright cherry nose with a healthy dose of potpourri. The palate shows those cherries along with strawberries and grapefruit. Strongly structured still, strong tart acidity on the finish with grippy tannin. Very bright all around. Could stand to age longer, but very delicious now.

Bright red fruit on the nose, rather surprisingly primary for its age. Flavors of strawberry with nice degree of acidity helping lift up the fruit on finish. Fruit is a bit simple and I would have hoped there would be a little more spice.
