  • Last bottle. Pretty much as in my last note from way too long ago - this was clearly still very much alive and kicking.

  • Almost exactly 2 years since the last note. Colour is fading gracefully. Less fruit on the nose, more oaky vanilla. Acidity has relented, giving a more rounded but still rather lean wine. Red berries predominate with no sign of the plums noted previously. Still a touch of warm oaky spice on the finish. This wine has developed in an honest and pleasant way. Given its lightweight nature even when young, I suspect we should drink our remaining bottles over the next year.

  • Thrown some sediment, so decanted. Lightish colour, just starting to brick at the edges. Plums and redcurrant on the nose. Light to medium bodied, plum and red berries on the palate. Quite lean, but decent astringency from a backbone of dry tannins and a mouthwatering streak of acidity. Just a touch of oaky sweetness on the finish. Fine with food now, but another year or so should knock off any remaining sharp edges to give a smooth and elegant village burgundy of the lighter variety.
