Just about everything that you can expect from a village appellation Fixin. Credit to Jadot for making an interesting wine out of it. It stands in stark contrast to the 2009 village appellation Santenay that I opened the day before. That transition to a "modern style" does not reflect positively on Jadot or the Burgundy region by extrapolation. This was a nicely made wine, exquisitely balanced, dinking well after 20 years. Not the complexity found in a better appellation but very satisfying. Could have aged another 5-8 years. Pretty remarkable.

The Jadot '99 Fixin is superb, and what a great value it must have been for those that purchased it on release. Notes of dark berries, rich soil and a touch of grilled meat introduce a rich, supple wine with a vibrant line of acidity, a melting chassis of ripe tannins and lovely depth and intensity at the core. Drinking well and with 15 years ahead of it.
